Overview & Diving Season

Marine Biodiversity: Located in Indonesia's West Papua Province, Raja Ampat features marine diversity considerably greater than any other sampled region in the Coral Triangle.
Vessel Options: Dozens of liveaboards operate across the region, ranging from traditional wooden Phinisis to modern luxury yachts.
Best Time to Visit: Primary liveaboard charters run from October to April for calm seas, minimal rain, and peak manta ray activity.
Conditions: Warm water temperatures year-round. Due to remote locations and currents, trips are best suited for experienced divers.

Southern Region (Misool): Famous for mushroom-shaped karst islands, lagoons, caverns, and sites like Fiabacet, Farondi, Daram, Wayilbatan, and Boo Island.
Central Region (Dampier Strait): Home to high-action sites such as Cape Kri, Mansuar (Manta Ridge), Gam, Jef Fam, South Penemu, and Waigeo.
Northern Region: Less-traveled routes including Wayag, Kawe, Aljui Bay, and Uranie.
Marine Life: Encounters with oceanic and reef mantas, indigenous wobbegong sharks, pygmy seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish, green turtles, and schooling pelagics.

Entry Port: Almost all Raja Ampat liveaboards depart and arrive via Sorong (SOQ) in West Papua.
Getting to Sorong: Fly into Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS), or Makassar (UPG), followed by a domestic flight to Sorong (Domine Eduard Osok Airport).
Trip Duration: Itineraries typically range from 6 to 14 nights depending on whether you cover single regions (North/South) or the full park.
Transit Trips: Extended liveaboard routes often connect Raja Ampat with the Banda Sea, Triton Bay, Cenderawasih Bay, or Halmahera.
